Born in Germany, she has lived in Italy since 1985. She joined Neri Pozza in 2011 as editor of foreign fiction. A native German speaker, she also reads in English and French, working mainly with fiction but also with more accessible non-fiction. She curates and supports the development of key authors in the publisher’s catalog. Recent selections include The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese and Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, winner of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize. She is now Deputy Editorial Director at Neri Pozza Editore.

Sabine Schultz, Deputy Editorial Director of Neri Pozza Editore, recounts the deep and lasting connection between the Vicenza-based publishing house and American fiction. A journey that began in the 1950s with the “American Tradition” series, in which Neri Pozza published foundational authors like Melville, Emerson, and Hawthorne, and that continues today with some of the most celebrated international bestsellers. From Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier to In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson, from Barbara Kingsolver to Viet Thanh Nguyen, and recent phenomena like the Blackwater saga, Neri Pozza’s American catalog is now among the most important in Italy. A unique opportunity to explore how literature from across the ocean has shaped the identity of one of the country’s most prestigious publishers.
