Giovanni Ponchia

Director of two Vicenza-based wine consortiums (Gambellara and Colli Berici). Born in Cittadella in 1977, he completed his studies in Viticulture and Enology in 2001 at the University of Padua, based in Conegliano. After gaining experience in wineries across Tuscany, Veneto, and Friuli Venezia Giulia, from 2005 to 2016 he worked as a technician at the Soave Wine Protection Consortium (Consorzio Tutela Vini Soave), where he was involved in several key projects, including the development of the Soave Grand Cru classification and related zoning, the Volcanic Wines format, as well as the promotion and organization of events for industry professionals.

Since 2017, he has been the Director of the Colli Berici and Vicenza Wine Protection Consortium, and in 2019 he also assumed the role of Director of the Gambellara Wine Protection Consortium.

Guided tasting of 8 wines from Vicenza and the USA (with food pairings)

A journey through the wines of Vicenza in conversation with American labels, led by Giovanni Ponchia – wine promoter, director of two Vicenza-based consortiums (Gambellara and Colli Berici), wine enthusiast, and active contributor to various educational projects in the wine world.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Colli Berici e Vicenza, the Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Breganze and the Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Gambellara.

Food pairings are curated by Serenissima Ristorazione.

The Biblioteca Internazionale La Vigna, the most important international center for ampelographic research, will be open to participants with a special exhibition of books related to the tasting experience.
