From Star Wars to the Risorgimento: Freedom in Cinema, Comics, and TV
Using the epic Star Wars saga as a guiding thread, the editorial team of Mondoserie.it will take the audience on a journey through the different ways—sometimes close, sometimes worlds apart—in which cinema, comics, and television (both American and Italian) have explored the theme of freedom and struggles for independence.
A narrative that spans historical, fantastical, and allegorical storytelling. From pirates to rebels, from partisans to warriors. From Hollywood to counterculture. From big-budget American blockbusters to Italian films on the Risorgimento, from the comics of Robert Crumb to those of Andrea Pazienza, from the corsairs of Black Sails to the warriors of Vikings.
Famous scenes and iconic imagery will accompany this exploration of the various styles and languages—spectacular, incendiary, reflective, ironic—through which Italy and America have portrayed the human longing for freedom.
