Umberto Mucci, journalist, author, and founder of We the Italians, takes us on a fascinating journey through the lesser-known stories of Italian-American ingenuity.
From early pioneers to modern-day excellence, from Hawaii to New York, Chicago to California, Mucci shows how Italian creativity has found fertile ground in American enterprise culture. In the U.S., Italian style is synonymous with quality and reliability; in Italy, all’italiana too often evokes disorganization and improvisation.
With passion and irony, Mucci offers a timely and provocative reflection: perhaps it’s time to bring more Italy to America—but also more America to Italy. Italian Americans, with their dual identity, represent a living bridge between two worlds that still have much to learn from one another.
